Description
Unusual Art Nouveau brass ceremonial regulator by Carl Werner, circa 1910 Unusual case (wood) with a solid, glazed brass door featuring lavish Art Nouveau ornamentation and a garland of flowers. Solid full-plate movement with Graham escapement and lock-disc striking mechanism for the full and half hours on a very pleasant-sounding ‘cello gong’; power reserve of 1 week; the movement is unmarked (but is by Carl Werner, presumably for export); the gong’s mounting plate bears ‘Cello Gong’ and a horseshoe mark for Karl Werner. The movement has recently been overhauled and is fully functional. Simple dial with Arabic numerals; the original lacquer is partially stained. Blued steel hands. In good condition for its age, with some signs of corrosion. Height: 82.5 cm Width: 38.5 cm Depth: 23 cm
