Description
This clock has been fully restored!!! The case is supported by four lion’s paws, it is adorned all round with floral, gilded bronze decoration; the fine Boulle inlay work is complete; the tortoiseshell has been repaired in a few small places (old repairs; the brass on the right and left at the top of the clock is slightly raised in two places). The front door is flanked by Chronos. A putto forms the upper finial. The console is the original one, but unfortunately a few inlays are missing (see photos). The fittings were removed, cleaned by hand, the case cleaned, and everything subsequently reassembled. The movement (fully overhauled – all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, balance wheel reground and polished, escapement readjusted, springs checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, expertly oiled with special lubricants) runs for approximately 14 days; it strikes the half and full hours on a bell and is marked ‘Japy Frères & Cie Grand Medaille D’Honneur’. The cartouche dial is well preserved; only a few cartouches are very slightly chipped at the edges. Dimensions: Height: 57 cm (51 cm without the console) Width: 25 cm Depth: 15 cm The pendulum, key and a bell are included in the offer.
