Description

A very rare Viennese swinging-pendulum clock with two dials in the shape of a radiant sun, circa 1820. In this type of clock, the movement is mounted within the pendulum lens; the clock has two dials (one with a central seconds hand on the reverse), and the hand mechanisms are linked so that both dials can be set simultaneously from one side; the hands are likely to be the originals, Viennese movement with mainspring and anchor escapement; this is in good condition and runs smoothly. The pendulum is suspended by a pendulum spring, and the clock can be regulated via a special mechanism beneath it; imitation rusted pendulum. The two decorative sun-shaped bezels were thoroughly cleaned and re-gilded (with gold leaf) a few years ago. A wall bracket was added at a later date. The clock could be hung rotated by 90° or in front of a mirror so that both dials are visible. Height: 85.5 cm Diameter of the sun: 27 cm Depth: 8 cm With hanging bracket: 20 cm
