Description

A rare, small Empire-style vase-shaped pendulum clock in fire-gilded bronze, circa 1815 only 25 cm high An oval bronze base supported by four feet, divided by a band of acanthus leaves running all the way round; above this rises the vase-like upper section, decorated with numerous vine leaves and roses and fitted with two handles, containing a small insert for flowers (artificial) etc. The fire-gilding is in good condition for its age (the polished gilding is worn on all sides, as are the corners; see photographs), The mounting for the rear foot has an old solder joint. The case has been completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned and subsequently reassembled. The functioning movement, featuring a pendulum suspension by thread, an anchor escapement and a lock-disc striking mechanism (full and half hours), has been expertly overhauled and adjusted; it runs for approximately 8 days. Guilloché, fire-gilded dial with Roman numerals. Dimensions: Height: 25 cm Width: 21.5 cm Depth: 11.5 cm A key and a bell are included in the offer.
