Description

Parisian pendulum clock in fire-gilded bronze, ‘Flora’, c. 1815, Empire period, with glass dome The case is supported by four slender feet, upon which rests the square plinth, adorned with several garlands, quivers, bows, etc.; above this, the movement is mounted centrally, with Flora standing to the left holding the lid of the bowl, and to the right a pedestal with a bouquet of flowers and a butterfly. The bronze case is in very good condition for its age; the fire-gilding (original, not re-gilded!!!) is well preserved, though the polished areas are slightly worn (see photographs). The movement, featuring a thread suspension and hook escapement, has been fully overhauled and re-adjusted by a master watchmaker; it runs for approximately 14 days and strikes the half and full hours on a bell. The enamel dial is undamaged (slight chips around the winding mechanisms) Dimensions: Height: 36 cm Width: 32 cm Depth: 11 cm Height with glass dome: 45 cm The pendulum, key and bell are included in the offer.
