Description

Rare, small tower clock by JF Weule, circa 1895 Small, working tower clock movement with an ornate ‘Gründerzeit’ cast-iron frame featuring pressed-in brass bearings, a large roller wheel with a counter-lock (gravity lever), anchor escapement with seconds pendulum, small auxiliary dial with an angled shaft (2 bevel gears) for the hand train. Signed ‘Weule’ on the reverse (below the anchor fork). Original wall bracket, pendulum with a pendulum spring that was replaced at a later date, and a weight. Various minor paint chips, mainly on the wall bracket (which was refurbished last year). With a drop height of approx. 1.80, the clock runs for just over a day (weight: 4 kg without the pulley); if the full length of the rope were utilised, it would run for 8 days (hence the additional pulley); a corresponding weight with an integrated rope pulley is also still available (17 kg). Collection from 98701 Großbreitenbach would be recommended, but the clock can also be sent in three parcels via DHL; if the heavier weight is required, I would need to send this separately.
