Description

Marble and bronze lyre-shaped pendulum clock with a swinging bezel set with rhinestones, c. 1890 An oval marble plinth supported by four feet with gilded bronze fittings; above this is the clockwork mechanism mounted within a lyre and flanked by two cocks; the ensemble is crowned by a sun disc bearing the face of Apollo, above the movement, the pendulum is suspended; the bezel, set with rhinestones, is inserted into this and thus swings along with it. The gilding is in good condition; unfortunately, the marble lyre was broken and has been expertly re-glued (it is almost imperceptible) (see photographs) The case was completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned and subsequently reassembled. The functioning movement with an anchor escapement has been fully overhauled and readjusted (the small rotating pendulum lens is used to regulate the clock). The enamelled, florally decorated dial with Roman numerals is undamaged apart from a slight chip below the 6. Dimensions: Height: 36 cm Width: 16.5 cm Depth: 9 cm A matching key is included in the offer.
