Description
The beautiful case is supported by four spiked feet decorated with acanthus leaves; the clockwork is set in the centre of the marble plinth, surrounded by various bronze decorations. Upon this stands a putto playing the cello, surrounded by roses. The gilding is in good condition for its age (only the fittings show slight wear). The white Carrara marble is well preserved. The case was completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned by hand and then reassembled. The small movement with an anchor escapement has been completely overhauled and readjusted(all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, the anchor reground and polished, the escapement readjusted, springs checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, and expertly oiled with special lubricants). The enamel dial with a blue moon motif is undamaged apart from slight chips around the winding hole. The delicate, hand-sawn hands are also gold-plated. Dimensions: Height: 28 cm Width: 22 cm Depth: 10 cm A matching key is included in the offer.
