Description
The casing is supported by four feet, the front two in the form of two winged Psyches, upon which rests the square, fire-gilded plinth; this is adorned with a broad bouquet of flowers, whilst the acanthus leaf moulding dividing the plinth has, unfortunately, been repaired on the left-hand side. In the centre stands the clock case, against which Cupid and Psyche are leaning, with Psyche crowning Cupid with a garland of roses . The bronze case has been completely dismantled and cleaned; the burnishing and fire-gilding are in good condition, although the acanthus leaf moulding is discoloured in the repaired area, and the silver-plated clock body has two small cracks. The movement, featuring a thread suspension and hook escapement, has been fully overhauled and readjusted by a master watchmaker (all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, the anchor reground and polished, the escapement readjusted, springs checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, expertly oiled with special lubricants), it runs for approximately 14 days and strikes the half-hours and full hours on a bell. The cast bronze, openwork dial with enamel cartouches is fire-gilded. Dimensions: Height: 61 cm Width: 40 cm Depth: 13 cm The pendulum, key and bell are included.
