Description
This clock has been fully restored!!! The Louis XV-style case features lavishly curved ornamentation in gilded bronze and is veneered all round with tortoiseshell (the tortoiseshell accounts for less than 5 per cent of the total mass). A glazed door is fitted to the front. Apart from some cracks in the veneer typical of its age, the clock is well preserved; the gilding on the bronze parts is also in good condition. The side tables are original to the clock and are designed in the same style; the veneer is slightly chipped at the edges, and the gilding on the bronze parts is worn (mainly on the candlesticks and the central sections). The set was completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned and then reassembled. The movement has been completely overhauled by a master watchmaker (all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, the escape wheel re-ground and polished, the escapement readjusted, mainsprings checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, and expertly oiled with special lubricants), it runs for approximately 14 days and strikes the half and full hours on a bell; it is marked ‘Vincenti & Cie’. The cartouche dial is in good condition; only the cartouche for the number 2 is slightly cracked, and the gilding on the bronze ring is slightly worn. Dimensions: Clock Height: 54 cm Width: 28 cm Depth: 14 cm Side table Height: 36 cm The pendulum, key and a bell are included in the offer.
