Description
A very fine Parisian pendule clock in fire-gilt bronze, Charles X period, circa 1825 An elf with a butterfly The two-part plinth rests on finely crafted floral feet and is divided by a band of acanthus leaves; the upper section is decorated with garlands and palmettes, upon which rests a burnished rock upon which the elf is seated; he holds a butterfly in his right hand (as a sign of rebirth) and a rose in his left (as a symbol of love). The case has been thoroughly cleaned and is in a condition appropriate to its age. The guilloché dial, which is also fire-gilded, has been completely (authentically!!!) repainted by hand by a dial painter. The fine Parisian pendulum movement, featuring a hook escapement and half-hour chime (via a striking disc), has been fully overhauled by a master watchmaker and runs for approximately 14 days. The offer includes a matching thread pendulum and 1 matching key. Dimensions of the clock: Height: 42 cm Width: 27 cm Depth: 10 cm All in all, a beautiful, fully restored clock.
