Description
The solid, fire-gilded bronze case is in very good condition; Urania sits on the square plinth, pointing towards the globe, with two books to the right. The case is marked on the front plinth with ‘No. 4 Uranie’ and ‘Colo??? Mayenne’. The case has been completely dismantled and cleaned by hand. The fine Parisian pendulum movement, featuring a hook escapement and half-hour strike (via a lock disc), has been fully overhauled by a master watchmaker and runs for approximately 8 days; it is marked on both sides with ‘Pons Médaille d’Or 1827’. The bezel is also marked ‘Uranie No. 4’. The fine silver-plated dial is slightly worn but well preserved. The lot includes a matching thread pendulum and 1 matching key. Dimensions of the clock: Height: 46 cm Width: 31 cm Depth: 12 cm
