Description
Fire-gilded Empire-style bronze pendulum clock with angel figure, c. 1815, by Butte (Paris) A two-part plinth supported by four feet, featuring a superimposed relief (lyre, tambourine, pan flutes, vine leaves and grapes, 2 jugs, pine cones, trumpets, etc.); in the centre is the clockwork, crowned by a lyre; to the left of this is a winged angel (with a baton, restored); to the right is a staff with laurel leaves. The original fire-gilding is well preserved, apart from slight wear in the polished areas and a few minor spots; two small holes (for small pins) have been drilled into the bezel of the dial to prevent it from twisting within the case (at I and XI). The case was completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned and then reassembled. The functioning movement, featuring a pendulum suspension by thread, an anchor escapement and a lock-disc striking mechanism (for full and half hours), has been expertly overhauled and adjusted; the power reserve is approximately 8 days, as indicated by the BZifutte. The fire-gilt dial with floral decoration is in good condition. Dimensions: Height: 31 cm Width: 23 cm Depth: 9 cm The key, pendulum and a bell are included in the offer.
