Description
The case, divided by surrounding decorative mouldings (acanthus leaves, egg-and-dart motifs), is supported by four square feet; perched on top is a winged cupid who has just plucked a rose. The fire-gilding is well preserved, apart from the patina typical of its age, slight mould stains and wear caused by dust on the polished surfaces. The movement, featuring an anchor escapement and a thread pendulum, strikes the half-hours and full hours on a bell; it is unmarked, in working order, but has not been overhauled, so no guarantee is given as to its accuracy or long-term reliability. The fire-gilded dial with Roman numerals is well preserved; the bezel has been fitted with glass at a later date. The glass on the rear bezel is missing. Dimensions: Height: 48.5 cm Width: 19 cm Depth: 11 cm A matching key, pendulum and bell are included in the offer.
