Description
Fire-gilded Empire-style bronze ‘Pendule Troubadour’, c. 1815 A two-part pedestal supported by four feet, featuring an applied relief (lyre, palmettes); centred above this is the clockwork mechanism, above which sits a musician playing his lyre, flanked by a large palmette and various musical instruments. The original fire-gilding is well preserved, apart from age-related wear in the polished areas and a few minor spots; the case is slightly deformed at the back. The functioning movement, featuring a pendulum suspended by a thread, an anchor escapement and a lock-disc striking mechanism (full and half hours), has been expertly overhauled and adjusted; it runs for approximately 8 days. The fire-gilded and silver-plated dial with floral decoration is otherwise in good condition. Dimensions: Height: 34 cm Width: 21 cm Depth: 9 cm The key, pendulum and a bell are included in the offer.
