Description

On the plinth, which is adorned with numerous weapons and suits of armour (including on the sides), a coat of arms can be seen in the centre; above this rises a neo-Gothic spandrel featuring pointed arches, etc. The upper section is crowned by the gravely wounded knight, who lies in the arms of an Oriental princess wearing a turban; the presumed murder weapon lies between the two. The bronze case is in good condition for its age; the fire-gilding (original, not re-gilded!!!) is well preserved, though the polished areas are slightly worn (see photographs); the bluing is also well preserved; despite the many small details, the clock is complete (all decorative elements are original). The case was completely dismantled, all individual parts carefully cleaned and subsequently reassembled. The movement, featuring a thread suspension and hook escapement, was completely overhauled and readjusted by a master watchmaker (all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, the anchor reground and polished, the escapement readjusted, springs checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, expertly oiled with special lubricants), it runs for approximately 14 days and strikes the half and full hours on a bell; it is double-marked ‘Honore Pons 1827’. The dial is silver-plated, with painted numerals. Dimensions: Height: 45 cm Width: 34 cm Depth: 11.5 cm The pendulum, key and a bell are included in the offer.
