Description
Rare early Empire/Consulat ‘Le Souvenir’ pendule, France, c. 1800, fire-gilt bronze On the octagonal plinth (featuring an inlaid relief panel with numerous cherubs and hearts), supported by four tall feet, stands a table on the left in which the movement is housed; next to it sits a young woman on a chair, holding a parcel marked ‘Souvenir’ in her right arm behind which stands a lyre. The enamelled dial with Roman numerals is well preserved apart from a few chips around the winding holes; it is inscribed ‘D.F. Lambert a Paris’. The clean, functioning movement, featuring half-hour and hour chimes on a bell as well as a thread-suspension pendulum, is in good working order and clean condition; it runs for approximately one week. The fire-gilding is in good condition, though, as is usual, the polished surfaces show some wear. Dimensions: Height: 34.5 cm Width: 30 cm Depth: 13 cm The key, pendulum and bell are included in the offer.
