Description

Rising from the square plinth, which features bronze inlays and a beaded moulding, are four columns flanked by bronze bases and capitals; these support the clock body, which is surrounded by four flame-shaped vases, whilst the top is crowned by a vase-shaped finial adorned with floral decoration. The fire-gilded fittings are in good condition; the gilding on the clock case is partially worn away; the marble is slightly chipped at the corners and slightly discoloured; the rear left foot has been replaced. The case has been completely dismantled; all individual parts have been carefully cleaned and subsequently reassembled. The movement, featuring a thread suspension mechanism and a half-hour and hour striking mechanism on a bell, has been fully overhauled and readjusted by a master clockmaker (all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, the escape wheel reground and polished, the escapement readjusted, mainsprings checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, expertly oiled with special lubricants); it runs for approximately 14 days. The enamel dial is undamaged apart from a chip near the left-hand winding hole. Dimensions: Height: 52 cm Width: 31 cm Depth: 14 cm The pendulum, key and a bell are included in the offer.
