Description

Impressive clock in gilded bronze and Carrara marble, Paris, c. 1870, marked ‘Vincenti et Cie’ Weighing approximately 20 kg Seated on the heavy, oval, laterally fluted marble plinth are two putti on small stools, pointing towards the central vase; in the centre stands the large vase, crowned by a sumptuous bouquet of flowers, the plinth is adorned with several beaded mouldings and is supported by four opulent feet. The gilding is original, although it is partially worn; the marble is slightly mottled in places and a small corner is chipped at the front left. The fine pendulum movement, featuring a hook escapement and half-hour strike (via a lock disc), has been fully overhauled by a master clockmaker and runs for approximately 14 days; it is marked ‘Vincenti et Cie’. A pendulum and the original key are included. The enamelled dial with its blue Roman numerals is well preserved. All in all, a very beautiful and decorative pendulum clock. Dimensions of the clock: Height: 52 cm Width: 44 cm Depth: 15 cm
