Description

A very rare Parisian pendulum clock in fire-gilt bronze with an upper pendulum, restored in the Epoque style around 1820 The square plinth, shaped like several acanthus leaves, is supported by four square feet; upon this rests a broad acanthus-leaf moulding which supports the main body of the clock, shaped like two large acanthus leaves. Rising from this are four slender columns with Corinthian capitals, which terminate in four acorns; the clock is crowned by a bust of Apollo. The ceremonial pendulum swings between the four columns. The gilding is well preserved, except for the polished side panels; the case is complete. The movement is well-finished; it is driven by two mainsprings, strikes the half-hours and full hours on a bell and runs for approximately 14 days; it has been fully overhauled and is fully functional. The dial is also fire-gilded; the painting is slightly worn. The Breguet hands are also original. A matching key is included in the offer.
