Description

The beautiful case sits atop a wide plinth, it is fully glazed; the inlaid decorations and the dial are backed with black velvet; it is adorned all round with small heads of Bacchantes; the upper section is crowned by an imposing, openwork bronze finial featuring various side portraits. The bronze case is in good condition for its age; the gilding (original, not re-gilded!!!) is well preserved. The movement, featuring a Broco escapement and a rake strike mechanism for the full and half hours, has been fully overhauled and readjusted by a master watchmaker (all parts derusted, pivots polished, worn bearings replaced, anchor reground and polished, escapement readjusted, springs checked for cracks and replaced where necessary, expertly oiled with special lubricants), it runs for approximately 14 days; it is marked ‘S. Marti’ and ‘Lerolle Paris’. The exquisite dial is also marked ‘Lerolle a Paris’. Dimensions: Height: 55 cm Width: 31 cm Depth: 20 cm The pendulum, key and bell are included in the offer.
